For bar feeding applications or ones where a loading device other than Toellner’s is used, Toellner provides a means to catch or unload finished parts. Like our loaders, our parts catchers and unloaders are compatible with the offerings of all major CNC lathe manufacturers. Whether as an easy retrofit to your existing system or included at time of turn-key installation, our parts catchers and unloaders may be modified to accept larger or special circumstance parts or they can be updated to address new production requirements as they occur.
Parts catchers are an economical solution for accumulating parts that do not damage themselves when coming into contact with each other. They are typically mounted to the lathe casting just inside the door. The parts chute flips up under the chuck into a catch position via M-code 1 prior to part cut-off. Your part slides or rolls down the chute and exits the lathe into a collection box which is mounted on the exterior of the lathe door. The M-code 2 flips the chute back to the home position. For larger or sensitive parts that damage easily, a conveyor that leads to an accumulation table or other accumulation system specified by you may be added to the parts catcher.
Our unloaders provide a solution in situations where your lathe does not have room inside the work envelope for a parts catcher, or you have parts with larger diameters, long parts, or parts that require sensitive handling. Like our loader, the unit mounts to the floor just outside the lathe door. Unit rotates 110° to allow easy access to lathe. It extends through a Toellner-fabricated door insert to centerline, just under the part. The part is then cut off and caught/removed with a parts catcher/gripper mounted on the end of the unloader arm. Upon exiting the work envelope, the unloader places finished machined parts onto a Toellner-supplied conveyor leading to an accumulation table or other accumulation system specified by you.
This option is ideal for applications where automated transfer of a part between operations is required. Upon completion of the first operation, the Toellner loader places the part onto a parts transfer conveyor leading to a second Toellner loader. At the end of the conveyor, a pick & place rotates the part end for end and presents it to the loader gripper/nest. After operation two is complete, the loader places the finished machined parts onto a Toellner-supplied conveyor leading to an accumulation table or other accumulation system specified by you.
